FSW shoes is an Australian e-commerce shop housing multiple brands. FSW’s mission is to be the first destination for any customer in Australia looking to buy well-priced quality footwear. Their aim was to increase their presence in all of their target areas. This included stripstores, shopping malls, stand alone and online business. The task FSW gave Bolmar was to make their website easier for consumers, and more effective.

We based our designs for the new version of the FSW website on the previous design, which was also designed by us. Nowadays, it is not enough to just create a good UI design without incorporating a good UX. We always use all modern standards in the e-commerce industry. In general, this means that we strive to deliver the best solution for any existing or new design, the minimization of unnecessary elements (eliminate waste) and ultimately the best composition of the necessary ones.

As a first step for any visitor we chose to offer the type of wear categorized by gender. This way visitors can quickly select a category based on their needs.

A one page checkout enables the user to shop quicker by eliminating all formal tasks. In this case all a user has to do is to press the ‘add-to- cart-button’ and proceed to the checkout page. In addition to this, we designed all UI-elements in a minimalistic fashion to save space and make all pages as ergonomic as possible.

As a direct result of the re-design the audience grew with up to 10% per month. All pages have been validated and are consistent for all types of devices, including mobiles and tablets. Bolmar considers responsive layout to be the standard for future web design and e-commerce applications

The website looks great on desktop, but also quickly adapts to mobile devices.

The positive client and user feedback was the real reward for us, and confirmed for us that we are on the right path of UX thinking for any future web design.
